Kevin Schmad has been a part of United Studios of Self Defense for over twenty years, and has enjoyed teaching for over 10 years. He was born and raised in Fallbrook, California. Kevin Schmad joined the medical field after graduating high school. He graduated from College of the Siskiyous in the top ranks and quickly began a career as a paramedic and wild land firefighter for 5 years. Moving all the way from San Diego to Half Moon Bay, he transitioned from the medical profession and embraced his passion for the arts, teaching people the principles of the Martial Arts to have a better knowledge of discipline, self control and confidence while having fun at the same time. Kevin received his 2nd degree Black Belt at The Shaolin Temple in China in July of 2013, his 3rd degree October of 2015 in San Francisco, and his 4th degree at the Masters Seminar in July of 2022 in Irvine. After spending the last 10 years of teaching in the Bay Area, the school owners, Kevin and his wife, Kate, transferred out of Half Moon Bay to move back to Southern California, and settle in Temecula to start their family, nearby their parents and siblings as it takes a village to raise a child. Here they are with their son, Kevin Jr. With a versatile background in the martial arts, Kevin Sr. trained for many years with the following styles: Aikido, Tai Chi, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, MMA, Capoeira, and Yoga.
